Job Description
A Kempsville Building Materials (a division of Carter Lumber) CDL Class A Driver is responsible for transporting and dropping off materials while providing professional customer service to contractors and do-it-yourselfers. This is accomplished by appropriately using company vehicles and equipment to deliver products to customers in a safe and timely manner. Safety, building loads, inventory control, and product knowledge are all components of this position. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary to this position.
Requirements to be Considered for this Position:
- Previous delivery experience with building materials
- An acceptable driving record and a Class A CDL License
- Familiarity with delivery equipment is desirable
- Ability to participate effectively as a team member and good customer service skills
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Tractor Trailer experience
- Experience operating a truck mounted forklift (moffett)
- Monday - Friday. No overnight travel or weekends!
Responsibilities of the Position:
Delivery Activities
- Ensures safety of self and others at all times; delivers products to customers on-time; builds loads and checks accuracy;
- Assists customers with loading and/or unloading; interacts with customers at the jobsite; ensures proper paperwork processes are followed; provides customer service, is aware of hazards created by a changing job site or roadway conditions.
- Portrays a positive representation of his/her company while in the public eye.
Knowledge & Training
- Identifies personal growth needs and learning opportunities.
- Completes required orientation and safety training.
- Commits to continued learning on products, packages, procedures and more.
