Position Overview

The Senior System Administrator will be responsible for administering and maintaining systems across both SIPR and NIPR networks. This includes oversight of system performance, security hardening, troubleshooting, patch management, and supporting modernization efforts in both on-premises and cloud environments. The role requires an individual comfortable operating in highly regulated DoD environments, applying STIGs, supporting RMF compliance, and ensuring system readiness for mission demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Linux and Windows server environments across SIPR and NIPR networks.
  • Lead advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and root-cause analysis for complex system issues.
  • Implement and maintain compliance with STIGs, RMF controls, and DoD cybersecurity policies.
  • Manage AWS resources, including EC2 instances, IAM, VPC configurations, storage, and security settings.
  • Oversee system upgrades, patching cycles, configuration management, and performance tuning.
  • Support network-connected system operations, including DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching interactions.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, configuration baselines, and system procedures.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, engineering, and operations teams to ensure system integrity and mission readiness.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior administrators and support staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret clearance.
  • 6–10+ years of experience in system administration supporting DoD or similarly regulated environments.
  • Proficiency with Linux (RHEL preferred) and Windows Server administration.
  • Experience working in both classified and unclassified environments.
  • Strong understanding of RMF, STIGs, and DoD security standards.
  • Hands-on experience managing AWS cloud environments.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP).
  • Active Security+ certification (required under DoD 8570 IAT II guidelines).
