Job Title: Surgical Assistant

Location: Cincinnati, OH

Contract Duration: 12 Weeks

Shift: 5x8s or 4x10s | 6:30 AM – 5:30 PM

Pay Rate: $52 – $55 per hour

Job Summary

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking Surgical Assistant for an exciting Local job in Cincinnati, OH.

Responsibilities

• Position patients as directed by the surgeon to ensure optimal exposure.

• Provide visualization of the operative site by:

  • Placing and securing retractors.

  • Packing with sponges.

  • Digital manipulation of tissue.

  • Suctioning, irrigating, or sponging.

  • Manipulating suture materials.

• Assist with hemostasis using appropriate techniques.

• Perform suturing techniques including subcutaneous, subcuticular, and skin closure with suture, staples, or adhesive strips.

• Administer postoperative subcutaneous injections of local anesthetic under surgeon direction.

• Apply appropriate wound dressings, including occlusive, absorbent, and immobilizing dressings.

• Assist with securing drainage systems.

• Independently harvest veins, radial artery, tendons, bone, or skin when required.

• Provide expert support in major surgical cases under direct surgeon supervision.

• Stay current with emerging surgical technologies and techniques.

Required Skills & Experience

• Extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology.

• Excellent eye-hand coordination; ability to stand for long periods.

• Sound judgment and understanding of scientific principles.

• Demonstrated competency in surgical assisting skills through hospital instruction.

• Required: Completion of a two-year college or specialty program in surgical assisting.

Preferred:

• 4 years of general surgical experience, including at least 2 years in a specialty area.

Certifications & Licensure

• Required: BLS (American Heart Association).

• Preferred: NSAA, CFA (AST), AA-C (AAPA), or RNFA (NASC).
