Job Title: Telecoms Engineer
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Target Salary: $100k -110k
Travel: Up to 75% for this position
Accountabilities: - Configure and test network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls) and radio communications hardware (base stations, antennas, DAS).
- Configure network protocols (IP addressing, routing protocols) and radio protocols (LMR and wideband).
- Perform and be accountable for verification and validation activities starting in the factory until system hand over
- Perform site surveys on railroad property to lay out basic equipment.
- Supervise installations of Fiber Optic Cabling Systems and data communications systems
- Test Network, radio and fiber systems
- Troubleshoot network and radio equipment, conduct network performance tests, identifying, and resolving any connectivity issues or radio signal interference.
- Create checklists and reports including system configuration, test results and any identified issues.
Required Skills & Experience: - Minimum of 5 years of experience working with medium/complex networks and in radio deployment.
- Working Knowledge of network design patterns, constraints and protocols (networking certification preferred)
- Working knowledge of Switching and Routing protocols
- Working knowledge of wireless communications in demanding scenarios
- Excellent ability to use test equipment including multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and a spectrum analyzer.
- Working knowledge of Test and commissioning processes.
- Skilled in handling electric, electronic, and mechanical drawings and schematics.
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills and ability to communicate complex technical information.
Desired Skills & Experience: - System integration, ensuring seamless integration between the network and radio systems, including synchronization and interoperability.
- Radio Frequency/Telecommunications Qualifications/University Degree
- From 2 to 5 years of Railway System Engineering and Commissioning expertise
Education: Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related discipline
