Position: Transport Officer

Facility: Bluebonnet Detention Center

Location: 400 E 2nd St, Anson, TX 79501

Rate of pay: $20.93 per hour

Bonus: $4,000 annual bonus

Work schedule: Full-time; Overtime possible; Days

Position summary: Transport officers are responsible for the transporting, custody, and discipline of detainees assigned to the facility.

Essential responsibilities include:

• Search for contraband and provide security.
• Drive transport vehicles to transport detainees in vehicles provided.
• Provide custody and security of detainees including observation of detainees during transportation.
• Perform specific security functions including various type of body searches by squatting and bending to perform such functions. Also required is to climb ladders or stairs in search of contraband.
• Transfer and transport detainees by walking, driving, or riding in vehicles. Restrain and secure assaultive detainees, as needed.
• Must be able to work rotating shifts and all posts assignments.

Education and experience requirements:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is necessary.
• Prior corrections/detention experience is preferred.
• A valid CDL driver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required. Passenger endorsement is preferred prior to start date. If not obtained by start date, candidate will start work as non-transport detention officer, night shift, at $20.57 per hour.
• Successful completion of the ICE/ERO bus driver training program, or a comparable approved training program, and all local state requirements for a commercial driver's license also required.
• Must have United States citizenship and successfully complete the required pre-service training.
