ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Calvary Bible Church (CBC) is prayerfully seeking a Worship Pastor to join our pastoral team. This individual will collaborate closely with our pastors to shape and communicate a clear vision for worship, oversee service planning, and lead the church in Christ-exalting, Spirit-empowered gatherings. Reporting to the Elders through the Senior Pastor and directly supervised by the Senior Pastor in his ministry area, the Worship Pastor will initially devote approximately 50% of his time to leading all aspects of worship. The remaining 50% of his time will be assigned based on the candidate’s unique gifts and calling(*). As the church and role expand, the worship and pastoral responsibilities will be adjusted accordingly. We are looking for someone who radiates joy in the Lord, loves the church deeply, and invites others into heartfelt, God-centered worship. His ministry will aim to help our faith-family see and savor the greatness of God in Jesus Christ through vibrant singing and Spirit-led praise. Above all, he will lead from a deep love for God that overflows in authentic worship—through music, words, and example. The qualified candidate will be gifted by God and called to serve in the following ways:
1. Plan Sunday Worship Services – Select theologically rich songs and hymns across styles and eras that support Scripture and engage the congregation, introducing new music thoughtfully and with pastoral sensitivity.
2. Lead Worship with Heart and Humility – Model invitational, Christ-centered worship that encourages active participation and avoids a performance-driven atmosphere.
3. Develop Volunteer Musicians – Recruit, equip, and mentor musicians of all skill levels to serve with excellence, unity, and humility, incorporating diverse instruments as available.
4. Lead Rehearsals and Team Community – Conduct weekly practices to prepare for Sunday and foster spiritual and relational growth within the team, with additional rehearsals as needed.
5. Build and Expand Musical Vision – Honor CBC’s musical traditions while seeking God’s direction for growth in new and faithful expressions of worship.
6. Engage in Church Life – Be an active, committed member of the CBC family, aligned with its mission and statement of faith.
7. Manage Ministry Logistics – Oversee administrative tasks such as scheduling, budgeting, communication, licensing, and organization of music resources.
*At present, church leadership anticipates that music ministry will occupy up to 50% of the Worship Pastor’s weekly responsibilities. Other music and pastoral responsibilities will be assigned and may include:
•Overseeing the AVL/technical team and volunteers
•Leading additional worship services (mid-week, evening, etc.)
•Planning and executing special services, programs (e.g. Christmas, Easter)
•Serving in and/or leading other shepherding and disciple-making ministries
•Teaching/preaching assignments

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
4-year B.A in Worship/Ministry, or equivalent degree, required
MDiv. or other master’s degree from a theological training institution highly preferred
Formal music training and performance history (incl. high school) required
Minimum 3 years’ experience leading worship in a church setting of 100+ congregants required

PREFERRED SKILLS
• Ability to play guitar and/or piano while simultaneously leading congregational singing
• Vocal ability to deliver periodic special music performances (solo, duet, etc.)
• Experience with audio/visual (AV) equipment is preferred
• Creative ability to write original songs and/or arrange hymns in contemporary style is preferred
• Ability to handle and teach God’s Word
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and web applications
