Job Description

The role

We are looking for two Procurement Managers to join the University of Bristol Procurement team. Working in a top ranked University, you will play an important role in the organisation’s goals to provide financial support for excellence in research and education.

The University spends over £200m per year on external goods and services. Procurement is responsible for obtaining best value for this expenditure and ensuring University Procurement Policy, Financial Regulations and Procurement Legislation are followed. We handle over 100 tenders annually, managing expenditure across various commodities – so the ability to work in a busy and ever-changing environment is key.

You Will Assist Senior Procurement Managers Overseeing Procurement Activities For a Specific Area Of The University. It Is Likely That This Will Be In The Campus Development And Innovations Commodity Areas. The Procurement Team Is Split Into The Following

  • STEMEd (Laboratory Equipment, Supplies, Consumables)
  • Professional Services
  • Professional Supplies (Catering, Print, Furniture, Stationery)
  • IT Services (Software and Hardware)
  • Campus Operations (Facilities Management, Minor Works).
  • Campus Development and Innovations (Capital Projects, Sustainability)

What will you be doing?

  • Supporting Procurement processes from project inception through to contract award, including options appraisal, tender evaluation and contract drafting.
  • Using communication skills, developing successful working relationships with a professional Procurement team and a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Conducting spend analysis to identify opportunities for savings and efficiencies and increased delivery of value for money.
  • Ensuring the correct contract coverage is in place, benchmarking contracts and working closely with the Procurement Support Office.

You should apply if

  • You have substantial experience in a procurement role, with responsibility for tendering under UK Public Procurement rules, and commodity management - ideally across a variety of areas.
  • A track record in identifying saving opportunities, you can meet saving targets in complex organisations.
  • A good understanding of Public Contract Regulations.
  • You can plan and prioritise your workload under pressure in an environment of constant change - maintaining high quality customer service.
  • You are a proficient user of e-tendering and e-procurement systems and processes, as well as the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Qualified or working towards MCIPS Qualification, or you are prepared to undertake Procurement qualifications.
