2020 is well underway yet your goals may seem unachievable and impossible.
The kind of stuff we talk about doing year on year and by now you have quit. Haven’t you?
Don’t worry, I have been there too.
I realised about 10 years ago that when I made new years resolutions then I abandoned them after weeks or months, that there must be a better way to make positive changes in my life. I’ve learnt that when it comes to this mission of making positive changes, the right approach to goal-setting can make a huge difference.
These are the strategies I use in my personal life, my professional life, and with my clients to achieve success.
You can use them to inspire your own life.
1. Instead of writing goals down once a year which isn’t enough to evolve and grow, aim to write what you would like to achieve on a monthly basis. I actually encourage you to write specific, micro goals on a weekly basis to break your goals down further and make them more manageable. This way you can adapt your goals easily when they change. Believe me, they will change! For example ‘I want to lose weight’ becomes ‘I want to lose 5 kg by 30th March 2020.’
2. If you are like me you will barely take a minute to acknowledge your achievements and then you are onto the next thing. So celebrate. Reaching each one of those micro goals is just as meaningful as getting to the long-term goal, and celebrating them makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something even before I reach the finish line. There’s nothing more motivating than that.
3. Join a mastermind group for accountability. It can also help you to share your new mindsets and challenges with people who are in business just like you. They ‘get you’ and understand you. You cannot underestimate the power of building a support system. You are not an island, you need people who have your back. You need your tribe. Check out www.netwomen.co we have mastermind groups happening all over Scotland and we are growing in the UK. As a member you will get discounts to our events and access to webinars for training. Don’t miss out!
You, and only you, have the power to make meaningful changes in 2020 that impact the course of your life.
Remember, practicing forgiveness when you deviate from the plan is key to stay motivated and continue to move forward toward your larger goal.
