Signs that you are burnt out and what to do

Feeling stressed out?
Feeling exhausted?
Like you have too much to do but not enough time to do it?

When I speak to clients who are mentally, physically and emotionally drained I often hear myself say

You might be suffering from burnout

We are so wrapped up in ‘doing’ everyday that there is no time to ‘just be.’

Remember when you were younger and mobile phones didn’t exist? (Yes, I am old!) And when you were waiting in a cafe for your friend who was always late to turn up for that lunch date, instead of scrolling endlessly on social media, you would have time to STOP and JUST BE.

You actually looked around, had time to watch people walking by, listen to the sounds of people talking around you, giving you time to check in with yourself, your thoughts and how you feel.

How many times do you check in with yourself how you feel nowadays?

Be honest.

I thought so.

Here are 3 simple tips that you can implement in your routine to help you with burnout and what to do:

1. That to-do list never goes down because when you try to cram too much in your day, you don’t get anything done. Here’s a tip that will work, write down a list and take 3 top things that you need to get done today and prioritise. You will find that you will work through the list a lot faster.

2. You need 5 cups of coffee to keep you awake every day? That’s a sign that you aren’t putting yourself first.

Are you getting enough sleep? Are you exercising regularly? Eating healthily and drinking enough water? The simplest things have a big impact on your energy levels.

3. Stress can play tricks on out mind. When you feel stressed or overwhelmed, have you noticed that your mind starts to gravitate to a negative place? When you start to feel more negative remember to give yourself a break, be kind to yourself and realise that no one gives yourself a hard time except you.

How are you going to help yourself before you prioritise others needs before your own?

Self care

Give yourself permission to rest and recharge. You never let your phone get down to 1% so why would you do that to yourself?

Have a bath

Write in your journal

Go for a walk

Listen to music

Put that phone away for a few hours and see what happens!

Whatever works for you.

Self care is a remedy for burnout so make it a priority today. You can thank me later :))
